42. The Sand Planet of Death
Voltron version: The Sand People
Raible receives an SOS from his friend, Doctor Harvard, concerning the Sand People and Galra's conscripting of them. Indeed, Honerva thinks these sand people would make great mechablack beastman if not for their kind disposition - which she hopes to change with dark magic.
Shorty stumbles on to a secret underground Galra base, but his lion is attacked by sand snakes before he can investigate further. Doctor Harvard gives him the right advice to get rid of the snakes, and soon the rest of the GoLion team meet up with the Doctor at his place.
They want to strategize a way to raid the base and free all the captured sand people, but must think of how to do so without endangering the captives as well as figure out how to get past the sand snakes. In the meantime, the Doctor introduces the GoLion team to the Sand People. Fala is particularly taken, and gives a bracelet to one named Sand (Sandy).
Sincline, realizing that GoLion has arrived, tries to finish them off with a sand tsunami. This move backfires, as it gives the Lions a way to dig to the base without being detected until it's too late for the Galra forces to stop them. Sincline turned Sand into a deathblack beastman, unleashing him on GoLion. They recognize the beast as Sand, due to Fala's bracelet, and struggle against him.
They figure out the S on his chest is what is inciting him, and rip it off, returning the creature to normal size and disposition. Unfortunately, Sand still dies from the ordeal.
