20. Goodbye Earth

Fala has come of age and must find a prince to marry. Raible claims when she marries, only then will Altea be restored completely. Hys declares the four boys are unfit to marry Fala as they are mere 'drifters from Earth' but would make competant royal guards. Fala tries to ease the team's fears. But the boys are insulted and go to check on Earth's status.
They see it under assault, and although they wonder if anyone could have even survived World War III, they decide they must go to see if there are any survivors. Fala, Raible and Hys do not want them to take GoLion away from Altea, but the boys are determined and fight their way to launch. Raible has their Lions fired on to no avail in an attempt to ground them.
All of this does not go unnoticed by Galra with Sincline being ordered to "bring the bones" of those at Castle Gradham to Daibazzal. Honerva divines that Earth only has days to survive, so they must act fast.
On Earth, the boys arrive to find the oceans have all become magma. They find their old neighborhood and school, but no sign of any surviving friends or family. There is nothing but the devastation brought about by nuclear war. Their sorrowful search is interrupted by Sincline, who shows up on Earth instead of going to Gradham as ordered.
Back on Altea, Fala realizes that the boys have not abandoned them; they simply have strong feelings for the place they are from. Rather than taking the chance that they'll perish on Earth, Fala decides to join them and lend a hand even though Raible and Hys urge her not to go. She assures them that if she does not return, Altea will go on noting that "Altea exists because of its people" and is not hers and hers alone.
She arrives in time to help the boys fend off Sincline's attack and escape Earth before it explodes. Moody blames himself at first for Earth's demise because he had caused Mt Fuji to erupt, but Kogane knew the planet was doomed before that. The boys are heartbroken that their home world is gone, but Fala urges them to make Altea their home. Altea and its fight with Galra will become their focus.

Key Differences:
The most obvious difference, of course, is the planet that meets its doom is Earth - not some alien world Shorty's counterpart, Pidge, is from.
Cuts include shots where skeletal remains are seen.
