12. Evil-Doing of the Emperor
Voltron version: Bad Birthday Party
Planet Jarre, on the edge of the Great Dark Nebula, has its citizens enslaved by Galra. The Jarrans are forced to build a monument in honor of Daibazaal's longevity and must be complete by his birthday. Two slave boys, tired of the cruelty, want to steal a ship to get Golion's help.
While the Galrans party at night (which I found both disturbing and amusing at the same time), the boys make their move. Luckily, a guard was passed out drunk. One boy escapes, but his ship is shot down over Altea. The Viceroy (Tabor) on Jarre worries about their heads when Daibazaal learns someone has escaped.
On Galra, Daibazaal prepares to leave for Jarre. Honerva views the Viceroy as a sycophant, and is unimpressed with is Monument.
The boy is rescued on Altea, and the team wishes to help. But they worry about navigating the rough space between the two planets. Fala and the others are determined to go.
At Daibazaal's birthday bash, the Viceroy has his people lie down for Daibazaal to walk upon, as a show of their 'loyalty' to him. Daibazaal sees slaves working around him and is disgusted by the sight of them. The Viceroy suggests they'll be killed as soon as their work is done. However, Daibazaal has other plans.
He has them buried to their necks in sand. He turns their inevitable deaths into a sick game, where the Galran that beheads the most slaves will be given the most 'fresh liver' or 'thigh meat'.
GoLion arrives and spooks off the Galrans but not before Sadak kills the Viceroy for ruining Daibazaal's big day. GoLion tries to pursue Daibazaal's ship, but Twin Titan Beastman are released to fight him. After GoLion wins, the team vows to return someday and liberate the Great Dark Nebula.

"Time to suck on the bones of your friends." - Galrans to the Jarrans.
Major Cuts:
Some of the party scene was cut, perhaps because it showed the so-called robots acting too human. Or perhaps because they were getting a little frisky with the girls. You decide.
The Viceroy's deathblow was also cut.
Facts:
Daibazaal is turning 500 years old.
Jarre is said to be the closest planet to Altea.
The Galrans are definitely not vegetarians.
