43. The Angry Youth Suicide Corp
Voltron version: Voltron Frees the Slaves
Daibazaal does not like that Altea and Hercules have formed an Alliance. Sincline seems less concerned as he's sent out to recapture some of the planets his father has lost, starting with Amazon (where the miracle flower Amazonia grows). They think it's a good starting point, hoping GoLion will have a tough time with the magnetic field the planet produces.
Sincline arrives on the planet and with a Giant Beastman, destroys a village before announcing the planet's reacquisition by Galra. One villager's protest was silenced when he was vaporized, followed by Sincline's promise of death to anyone who resists. The capture is good for Daibazaal in that the flowers hold an elixir that enables his longevity.
Honerva shows Sincline how she's keeping the slaves busy in hopes of breaking their spirits - they are hard at work keeping a man-made waterfall going. That night some kids, most of whom lost someone in the initial attack, vow to make Sincline pay. They're frustrated that the adults refuse to act. The four dub themselves the Youth Suicide Corp. Their plan fails when Honerva is wise to their plans, and Sincline stages it so they can get to him...only so he can capture them. Honerva suggests they execute the kids as a warning, and hopes it'll lure GoLion too.
The announcement is sent that the children are to be executed on Amazon's moon, Remy. Raible suspects the announcement means a trap, but Kogane can't ignore it either way. They must try to save them.
At the site, the kids try to warn GoLion about the bomb but Kogane pushed on. The last thing he remembers is reaching the children and saving them with the lion's paw...then there was the blast. None of the team knew how, but somehow their Lions and the kids survived a nuclear blast. The narrator explains that it was a latent mysterious power within golion itself that saved them.
They then go to Amazon to free the slaves, who vow to revolt against Sincline as GoLion deals with the beastman.
Beastman's name: Giant Mecha Beastman Ypsilon
Differences: In this episode, the planet is the same one visited in episode 22 but in the dub, this is ignored and this is said to be a totally new planet conqured by Doom.
Cuts: Violence when the village is attacked; violence against the slaves as they are forced to labor.
