Persued by Zarkon's minions, the Space Explorers are shot down on Arus again. This time when they eject, they aren't captured. Frightened Arusians in a cave nearby the crash site throw arrows at the group. Surviving the attack, the group grabs some arrows and forges on to that dilapidated castle they saw before crashing.
Once there, they are let in but Coran is a bit skeptical. He explains to them, however, how Haggar tricked Voltron and split him into 5 parts - afterwhich, Zarkon was free to destroy and plunder Arus at will. They also meet Princess Allura, the lone surviving member of the Arusian royalty, who gives them her permission to try to find the lions that comprise Voltron and save her world. They are shown the castle's surprisingly modern control room and given uniforms.
