48. Get Past the Tenth Planet

Voltron version: Time Is Running Out



Synopsis: Secretary Tes proposes to the high council an armistice and surrender, seeing evacuation more important than fighting the Earth fleet any longer - their world, it's projected, will collapse within the month. There's no time to lose. Caponero doesn't much care for the suggestions, and tells Tes he should focus on getting rid of the upstart Guerrilla forces that have been causing trouble.

As the Rugger Teams approach the 10th planet, they come upon some remote control mines. One sticks to Patty's ship and Aki soon realizes they are waiting to detonate it when she tries to return to the Rugger Guard. He hopes the Land and Sea Ruggers can sneak up on the base that launched the mines and take it out, saving Patty but Nagato has an itchy trigger finger and gives them away. The Galvestons detonate the mine, and Patty crash lands on the Rugger Guard. With Aki Team sidelined, Ise orders the others to retreat. The Galvestons are stoked that they are preventing the advance of the Earth fleet.

Meanwhile, Tes returns home. There he is met by Sirk and Bakke (Bakki), who try to convince him to help them free Teles.

At the 10th planet, a battle attacker is released. Aki learns Patty was just given sleep meds and can't fly, but she is alert enough to insist she can manage until they form Dairugger...so what the heck!

Despite Ise's orders to withdraw once Dairugger is coated in mines, Aki decides they'll get that base if it kills them, and presses on. They manage to throw the battle attacker into the base, taking out the Galveston Captain before he can detonate the mines.

Cuts:
Battle deaths.
