51. Fierce Battle in the Underground City
Voltron version: The Drules Surrender!
Synopsis:
Dairugger is formed in the Galveston underground, and they begin to take on a Military installation when one of the battle attackers from the surface arrives. Another attacker appears, and it's a tough fight for Dairugger until the Allied Fleet gets there. Time is running out, so Dairugger pushes farther underground to reach the populated area.
A soldier tries to convince Caponero to use what little time is left to effect and escape with Corsair. Communications are down, and it's hard for them to coordinate their fight with the Earth forces. But Caponero will hear none of it. But then he's informed that Teles is leading an attack against headquarters...
He manages to escape to the Palace, where Caponero tries in vain to get the Emperor to flee with him and the other men of the high council. Time is running out and now Caponero thinks it's wiser to stop fighting and flee, hoping to rebuild Galveston and fight another day. But the Emporer would rather die there than surrender, and he holds no hope of Galveston ever being what it once was. So, Caponero leaves and soon Teles and the Guerrillas arrive to confront Emporer Corsair. Teles was going to execute him, but a man that swore to protect Corsair prevents it - only to indirectly be responsible for the Emporer's death when Sirk shoots him, causing him to fire his own weapon wildly, fatally hitting the Emporer.
Meanwhile, Caponero and his cohorts try leaving in a battle attacker, but they're spotted by Dairugger. Even though they're trying to run and not fight, Dairugger won't let them flee sensing some "big wig" must be trying to escape. Dairugger throws its sword, hitting the fleeing attacker and destroying it. Caponero and the other two perish in the blast that follows.
Afterward, the people celebrate the death of the Emperor in the streets, and then march toward Dairugger bearing white flags...

The DXV difference:
Because of plot changes in the dub, it ends with the Voltron Force supposedly making sure Zeppo and the other high council Drules really are leaving the Galaxy in peace (using recycled footage, I'm sure). DXV ends this ep with the people approaching with white flags given that all the troublemakers in the government are actually dead, none allowed to escape.
