20. Desperate Struggle for Planet K

Voltron version: Defend the New World

Synopsis: The supply base built on Planet K, the Rugger Guard prepares to launch to continue their survey work on the rest of the galaxy. Haruka is hopeful that they may yet find the original inhabitants of Planet K out there somewhere, but Izumo (Shannon) thinks it unlikely. His case is that their survey work so far has proven most planets are uninhabitable, so where would they have gone?

Galveston forces note the departure of the Rugger Guard. Despite orders, Lafitte Fleet launches. Teles views finding a planet for their people more important than fighting with the Earthlings, and is now considering asking Earth for help if need be. But when Lafitte intercepts a request from the new base for reinforcements, his belief is reinforced that their base needs to be taken out.

Lafitte Fleet attacks, but Hagi does not want the Ruggar Guard called to assist, knowing they have to take care of the threat on their own. If they call them everytime there's trouble, the survey team will never get any work done. But because of a feeling Keats get of foreboding, the Rugger Guard tries to contact the base - to no avail. They are then ordered to launch and check things out.

The teams arrive too late to save anyone at the base. And once the battle machine is destroyed, Lafitte is forced to retreat. The team is left to ponder the notion that maybe they have to deal with Galveston directly or their survey work will be pointless under constant attack from Galveston.

Cuts:
A lot of carnage of the base attack is cut, along with Hagi's death scene - you can watch a clip here of the deleted scenes.

Quotes:
"Does that star map get priority over human life?" - one man's plea to Hagi in favor of calling the Rugger Guard for help.

"To hell with the Galactic Survey!" - Aki, after learning there were no life readings within the devasted supply base.
