15. Breakdown of the Space Talks

Voltron version: In the Enemy Camp

Synopsis: Hagi has met up with the Rugger Guard on the Fifth Planet, and has begun building a base there. Ise is uneasy with this given their promise to Galveston to only want to stop there for repairs, but Hagi insists this is in the survey mission's best interest. Ise is afraid Galveston will think this a sign of Earth's intentions to dominate the galaxy, and requests that he be able to talk with them. Hagi would rather Ise find their base of operations, suspecting that it must be nearby.

Barataria still pushes to attack the Earth forces, but Teles resists, worrying that their own important survey work will suffer. Drake would like to indulge the request to have talks with the enemy, while Barataria vows to keep spying on the activity on the planet.

The Rugger Guard departs the planet and makes contact with Captain Drake's (Mongo) fleet. Ise requests to meet directly with his superior on their homeworld, but Drake balks at that. Drake simply wants to know why they have not abandoned the planet completely as agreed. Ise then requests to meet directly with Drake to discuss both their worlds' exploratory goals, and volunteers to meet on his turf. Drake sees it as a chance to learn more about them.

Ise proposes joint exploration of the galaxy, explaining their goals of exploration and to make a star map. Drake says the Galvestons are in a 'situation' that makes their acquisition of an inhabitible world a must at any cost, but refuses to tell Ise what exactly that situation is. The two reach a stalemate when Ise won't withdraw from the planet without learning of the Galveston's situation, and Drake refuses to tell unless Ise first withdraws. They are interrupted by reports of Barataria's attack on the base, and Ise must leave. Drake did not try to stall him as Barataria had hoped, and in fact leaves to head back to their front line base, leaving Barataria on his own knowing the rogue captain had defied direct orders from Teles.
Both sides take heavy losses in the battle on the planet, but Barataria is driven back for now.
