44. Aki Team Gets Caught
Voltron version: Frozen Assets
Synopsis:
Aki is so impressed with Teles, he's become over optimistic about Galveston-Alliance relations, irritating his comrades with easy talk of joint surveys and trust. He's bolstered by the fact that they saw no sign of Galveston as they were leaving the star system, but Aki's team launches to take another look around...
Back at the Galveston base, Teles gets demoted (again) and ordered to return to the homeworld. Raucher is put in charge of the survey forces. Their plan is to take care of Dairugger on the tenth planet, and from there, go back and take the third planet by force. Totally the opposite of how Teles would like to handle things. Raucher is told Teles will probably be arrested when he returns home for defying orders.
On the tenth planet, Captain Herm's (Captain Hammew) fleet lies in wait, faking disabled to lure the Aki Team in. Convinced Teles didn't have time to set a trap, Aki feels it's ok for most of the team to go aboard the seemingly abondoned ships on foot, hoping to find some clue to the Galveston homeworld. Aki and two of his teammates walk right into Hammew's trap and almost get killed. They manage to escape, and both Hammew and Captain Zucca cut their losses and head for the third planet.
Aki is "put through the wringer" by his superior for his conduct after he gets back on Rugger Guard, but offers his teammates some coffee to make up for it.
Facts: The Tri-Planet Alliance left a small garrison behind on the third planet, which they departed in the previous episode.
Quote: "I plan to live with my pride as a citizen of Galveston until the end no matter what happens." - Teles rejecting Sirk's idea to flee.
