11. A Temporary Truce

Synopsis: In this episode, a group of young Drules are out doing practice maneuvers out in space. An accident sends one plunging down to a planet the Voltron Force is busy exploring. Witnessing the crash, the teams gather the injured young Drule and take him to the Explorer to be looked after.

In the meantime, Zabar and the other Drule commanders worry about Sandu - the captured soldier in question - being in enemy hands. Particularly, they are worried he'll reveal some important secret mission they've been working on.
When Sandu awakes, Hawkins is friendly enough and Sandu has a serious conflict of conscious as he is struck by the Alliance members kindness toward him. Although not everyone is pleased with their guest. This is evident when Hawkins takes Sandu down to the cafeteria for a bite and Sea Team member Shannon has an angry outburst. Apparently, family members of Shannon have suffered under Drule oppression and he's incredulous that the commander can calmly sit and have a meal with the enemy. Shannon is so enraged that Hawkins has to deck him to get him to shut up and listen to reason. That was a fun scene.

Later, the team leaders reach out to Sandu and everyone ends up embracing him - all but Shannon who continues to brood by himself. In a kind gesture, Sandu approaches Shannon and offers his hand in friendship - which Shannon takes causing all to cheer.

They decide to repair Sandu's ship so he can return home. However, the carefully negotiated return of Sandu to Zabar's custody ends in disaster as Zabar shoots down his returning ship. Shannon runs to the crash site and supposedly rescues him. But given the hasty editing and the fact that we never see the recovered-but-exiled Sandu on the Explorer in any more episodes, I'd say he was really intended to have died.
