10. Planet of the Bats

Synopsis: Nerok monitors Alliance activities as they near planet Sentus. Meanwhile, the VF head out to explore the planet and discover a city that looks much like Mayan ruins. The only living thing they find ther are bats and so it seems like the perfect world to colonize.

Hearing of the planet's habitable state, Hazar sends Mongo in to take the planet from the Alliance. In the mean time the land team gets out to investigate the ruins on foot. Modoch investigates a cave despite Cinda's pleas. Modoch is then attacked by a bunch of bats and having been bitten by them, falls gravely ill. He gets in his vehicle, the red fist, and crashes. But before he passes out, he does manage to put it on auto pilot and then gets put into sick bay on the Explorer. With a fever of 104, the doctors are worried and call the others in to be safe.

Next thing they know, their communications are jammed and they are attacked. As for Modoch, Prof. Page theorizes that like those who opened Tut's tomb and died on earth centuries ago, that perhaps Modoch got a deadly virus from a bat bite. He notes that luckily they have an antidote now. He's given the antidote but is ordered to rest. The rest of the team tries to hold off the attack fleet but it's difficult without Modoch. While a robeast chases the VF around, Nerok zeroes in on the Explorer.
Modoch awakes, and despite still feeling ill, he launches. Voltron is formed and victory, once again, belongs to the Alliance.
