2006 Voltron Fandom Award Winner: Best AU Fiction

Title: Love Is Stronger Than Death, as it will fit in more ways than one. For anyone who wonders, it's a song by The The.

Basic Premise: I started thinking about a lot of "what ifs" one day. Like...what if Haggar hadn't been *that* obvious that the hand of Doom was involved in Princess's poisoning in the episode "The Sleeping Princess"? And hence, what if the team really did think she was dead and laid her to rest? And what if Lotor swooped in and took the Princess back to Doom to revive her there, the team none-the-wiser?
So, this multi-part fic would start at ep 30, change some events as outlined above, and go on an AU tangent from there.

Begun: June 2006.

Parts: I've finally determined that it'll span some 12 chapters.

Setting: LV Series, starting with a "re-write" of sorts of ep 30 and going "alternate universe" from there.

Sequels? A plot bunny has struck for a one-shot post fic tie-in, but it has since grown into a chaptered sequel idea. Can't say too much about it, without spoiling key plot points in the main fic. Let's just say it'll deal with a not-so-common pairing dealing with the aftermath of this fic.

Direct canon references: Everything in LV before ep 30 will be a part of the fic's canon as well. From 30 on, it's all askew and a re-write, though.

Pairings: Obviously, this had big potential to be L&A and at first, it's where I was going to take it. But honestly, that pairing takes skill to pull off without butchering one or the other's character, so I'll leave that to more talented writers than I.
What that means, in short, is I'm copping out and writing K&A - oh noes! It will have L&A elements, though, because obviously Lotor is going to try his darnedest with Princess as his captive audience ;)

Main Character Insights: Lotor, Allura and Keith will be major focuses in this one. There is also a subplot dealing with crazy-caveman!Sven and Romelle, too.
