Just click on the icon and fire off an email. I do get lazy now and then about replying, but I do make an effort to get back to those who take the time to write. Give it at least a week or two before you assume I've ignored you. Most likely, unless you've sent an outright flame, your email will go unanswered if my email gets moody and mistakes your mail for spam and automatically deletes it. Doesn't happen too often, but there are those occassions!

Don't feel bad if I don't respond right away as I'm idle a lot during the day due to things domestic. And for goodness sake, DO NOT use that blasted buzzer on YIM...doing so is the quickest way to get yourself on my ignore list!
