Purrsia's Fan Fic Extended Author's Notes

For the two of you who might actually care, below you'll find extended thoughts, notes, and other things (including previews of things to come) involving my Voltron fiction. Rather than tacking this all on some A/N in the stories, I feel it's better suited here.

In general, I expect readers to be fellow fans and therefore be familiar with canon, the characters, and get references to specific events from the show. So, if you haven't seen Voltron in a while and might feel a bit lost, I'll try to also note here the canon reference points I may have used. I just don't like to waste exposition on that in the stories themselves.

Some other basics?
**I tend to favor VV, poor neglected bastard that he is. I just have always found the VV storyline more engaging, though I have nothing against LV per se. Besides, VV needs more love ;)
**I write mostly what are known (and reviled) as songfics. Though, before you start clicking the back-button like mad, it's not as bad as you might have experienced. The extent of it is usually this: The fic shares a song title and a few lines of lyrics appear at the end of the story - not peppered throughout and/or having the characters serenade one another with it. So...it's minimal damage! I simply get inspired by music often, and sometimes a song's words in full or in part, sum up a mood or theme of a fic perfectly.
**I ship for anyone! Admittedly, I'm a sucker for romance and there'll usually be a pairing in my fics, even if the plot doesn't revolve around romance. I like unusual pairings - or at least unexpected ones - but don't always try to pull them off myself.
**I like canon. And I tend to base my work parellel to some timeline in the show, rather than doing post-series or pre-series pieces. Although, I do change events quite a bit when I do this making it all on the AU side, I guess (but isn't all fan fic AU in a sense by it's very nature?) However, I do try to honor canon as far as references and characterization. Yeah, the canon could be cheesy, and I do tend to let the grit of the original anime in - more violence, mild cursing, and darker themes sometimes - but overall, it is fan fic and as a fan, I can't just throw canon to the wind completely. Otherwise, I might as well write an original story, eh? ;) And although I'm a shameless hero-worshipper and focus on the "good guys", they don't always win or the ones smelling like a rose. Or at least, I try not to let them win in a contrived way.
**That said, I like to focus on characters - their thoughts, motivations. There's usually some battles sure, but the action takes a back seat to character development. You want action? Watch the show. You want to know what makes so-and-so tick (at least according to me), read my stuff.
**Like any author, I like feedback. Though, I'm not that prolific, write VV stuff and take a lot of time to finish WiPs, all of which probably works against me in that department. But, concrit is even welcome so if you've happened to read any of my work and want to include your two cents on the matter, I'd love to hear from ya.
