27. The Green Medusa

In this installment, Lotor travels to another planet and decides to capture a grieving female Medusan called Anga. She spends some time in the Arena on Doom and the royals are pleased by what they see: when Anga gets angry, she gets tough (just like the story of Medusa, her hair becomes serpants and her glance turns things to stone). Lotor and the old witch think Anga would make a fine Robeast.

Back on Arus, the Voltron Force tour the ruins of a ravaged village and encourage the people to come out so they can turn over children orphaned due to the war. It seems the Princess is going to run an orphanage as she's determined to find the lonely little ones new homes (I'm particularly amused by how terrified Keith looks when he's first presented with an orphaned infant). This cause is especially close to Pidge's heart as it is revealed that he was also an orphan. Lotor appears on the scene with an angry Anga, and the Lions are off to battle once again. Pidge takes a hard hit from Anga and is forced to eject from his Lion. Landing near the beast, Anga picks Pidge up and disappears into the ground to the rest of the team's horror. The others return to the Castle to plot their next move.

Meanwhile, Anga is holding Pidge captive in a cave. He tries to escape only to be snared by Anga's serpantine hair. While the others once again man their Lions, Pidge realizes that Anga's not so evil and is actually hurt. When Zarkon's fighters return, she emerges from the cave to turn them to stone. Pidge is now sure that Anga means no real harm and becomes friendly with her. He also manages to communicate with the others so that they know he's okay.

Lotor isn't pleased with Anga's performance, so he sends Haggar to 'persuade' Anga to do the job right. Pidge does his best to defend Anga, but the Medusan is still harmed by Haggar's attack. A different Robeast is realeased to deal with the Lions. To pay Pidge back for his kindness, Anga tries to carry him to his Lion but collapses partway there. He goes on without her and now the team can form Voltron.

The scene at the end is the same recycled bit where Lance gets a kiss from Allura, but Pidge gets 'lip service' from the space mice instead.
