  The adventure begins with a fleet of skull ships from Doom finding the Alliances not-so-secret base where most of their power is generated. Cossack, who is in command of that fleet, does some damage before returning to Doom for the glory of finding the base. Those at the base know when the Doomites return in full force, they won't stand a chance so GG is contacted. The base is so important, Space Marshall Graham calls on both Coran at the Castle of Lions and Commander Hawkins on the S.S. Explorer to get to the base and protect it, even though the distance is great for them both. The Castle, as you may remember, can morph into a space ship, so it takes off to join the Explorer at Akura, the planet where the base is located. Meanwhile, Zarkon rewards Cossack for his find and gets his own fleet ready. He also contacts Drule leader Throk for added support - and of course, false pledges of splitting the galaxy between them once victory is secured. Cossack wants to lead the Doomite ranks but Zarkon puts Lotor in charge of that. Haggar also wants to help by designing a robeast for the occassion, but she's brushed aside in favor of a Drule scientist who finds her magic obsolete. She gets her way, however, after changing the scientist into some kind of hideous bug creature to show him how "obsolete" her powers are. She seems to have something more in store for Zarkon than a robeast, though. As the Castle flies through space, the boys reminisce about some of their Vehicle Force friends as many were friends in the Space Academy - not to mention Pidge's twin, Chip, is on the team! Allura confesses to never having met them but seems to look forward to the opportunity. Interrupting the memories, Coran suggests they sleep in shifts with the Princess and Keith going first (but not with each other, you pervs!) Haggar arrives at the Castle undetected in one of those coffin vessels. She'd gained new powers and plans to use them on the sleeping Princess and Keith. Stealing inside, she spies on the duo and finds out what they're dreaming. Keith is having nightmares about when he was lost in the forest as a child. Haggar feels she can use this to her advantage. What she doesn't notice is that the Space Mice discover her presense. The mice alert the three boys on duty of the danger. They rush to check on Allura, but they're too late. Haggar is there, and after freezing the boys in place - including Keith who had awoke and also rushed in to help - steals Allura's spirit before making off with it. All seems lost until Alfor's ghost shows up to explain how powerful Haggar has gotten and where she's taken the Princess's spirit. Keith volunteers to travel across space and time to face Haggar on her own turf to rescue the Princess. Alfor obliges by transporting him there, but rescuing her will be perilous and involve Keith having to face his fears. A group of Doom ships led by Cossack tries to intercept the Castle. There's only three pilots for three lions, but they do their best. They do pretty well until Cossack traps them. In the meantime, Haggar and Allura have a little girl talk in which Haggar reveals some things about herself. Like she was once good and beautiful until serving Zarkon and dark magic turned her into the fugly thing she is today. Allura is encouraged by this and believes she can reach the old witch. Keith struggles with images from his nightmares, regressing back to when he was a child. With a kind reminder from Alfor, Keith defeats the demons of his own creation and presses on to find Allura. The Lions continue to struggle while the Vehicle team navigates a dangerous asteroid belt. They're given about 2 seconds of face time before we get back to the Lion and K & A fan service, but hey - with animation this shoddy, part of me is grateful >:} After a grim moment, the Lions end up sending Cossack packing. But on the heels of that is some bad news. The Fleet of Doom has reached Akura and have already begun their assault. Keith finds Haggar and Allura, but it's Allura's insistance at helping Haggar let her good side out that saves them both. Haggar literally becomes two - one her shriveled, evil side and the other her beautiful, younger self. Too tired to fight, she sends Allura and Keith back to the Castle where they arrive just in time to help out the other Lions as they're now at Akura and facing the Fleet of Doom. The Vehicle team is in close pursuit - a battle of cosmic proportions is brewing! LV is faced with three robeasts, which means they're in trouble fast. Of course, this is where VV comes in handy (and I have no clue what's going on with the mutant version of the Explorer, either. wtf?) VV bails out LV, but Lotor has a surprise. His 4 mini-robeasts combine to form a giant robot, with Lotor himself forming "the head". It will take the strength of both Voltrons to fight off the menace. While that's going on, Coran and Hawkins do their best to fight off the rest of the Doom fleet so nothing else at the base gets destroyed. Lotor is not happy with how things are going, so he brings out his robot's ultimate weapon - the blazing simitar. It's almost curtains for both Voltrons until the secret to his robeast is discovered. They send Lotor packing and Zarkon left quite angry with the defeat. Haggar goes back to Zarkon, but as a strange mix of her beautiful and haggard forms, but doesn't stay that way. Afterwards, the two Voltron Forces get together to reminisce and celebrate their triumph. "Have a taste of my obsolete magic, fool." - Haggar, as she zaps an arrogant Drule scientist with a good dose of magic. Click here to read an archive of old comments.
